Curriculum Evaluation of a German Language Programme Based on CIPP Model

Abstract

The aim of this scientific paper is to evaluate the curriculum of German-English language programme at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University in Albania utilizing Stufflebeam’s CIPP model. The case study is a two foreign language education program that provides instructions in two languages, German language as a Major and English language as a Minor. Publications to date are mainly about university programs in general or various foreign language programs, but none focus especially on the German language programs at higher education in Albania. The research investigated University lecturers and students perception on the current curriculum of this undergraduate Bachelor program adapting the CIPP model and its comprehensive framework. The method used to collect the data was qualitative research approach and research tool interview. The participants on the study were purposely selected from this educational program. The study reports that the University teacher’s are positive regarding context and process but dissatisfied with input and product. And the students on the other hand positive towards input and product but unsatisfied with context and process. This paper results will provide relevant data for the curriculum designers and policy makers to improve and modify the curriculum course content for quality assurance and to achieve the goals and objectives of the language programme.
