Abstract

This paper proposes an AI-assisted pedagogical approach to preserving cultural memory through Vietnamese Literature in secondary education. In the context of digital transformation, Literature classes can play an important role not only in developing students’ reading and interpretation skills but also in helping them understand cultural values, collective memory, local identity, and national heritage embedded in literary texts. The study focuses on how artificial intelligence can support teachers and students in exploring cultural elements in Vietnamese literary works, including symbols, customs, family values, traditional lifestyles, historical memory, and local spaces.

The proposed approach combines close reading, cultural interpretation, AI-assisted visualization, digital storytelling, memory mapping, student discussion, and reflective writing. Through these activities, students are encouraged to move beyond passive reception of literary knowledge and become active participants in reconstructing and communicating cultural meanings. AI tools are used to assist students in generating visual representations, organizing cultural information, comparing perspectives, and presenting learning products in creative ways.

The paper is grounded in cultural memory theory, heritage education, and technology-enhanced learning. It also discusses the teacher’s role in guiding students to use AI critically and responsibly, especially in relation to cultural authenticity, ethical use of generated content, and the evaluation of digital materials. The expected outcome is a practical teaching framework that integrates literary education, cultural preservation, and digital competence. This study contributes to current discussions on the future of education by showing how AI can support meaningful, culturally rooted learning in secondary schools.

Keywords: artificial intelligence, Vietnamese Literature, cultural memory, heritage education, secondary education.
