Editing the Book - Global Challenges in Language Teaching Learning
Nebojša Radić, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom)
Abstract
Global Challenges in Language Teaching Learning: Developments and Innovations is a collection of studies on language teaching and learning by 22 authors from all continents and 14 different countries. The studies focus on classroom and blended practices analysing a wide range of scholarly topics including learner engagement, language for specific purposes, assessment and teacher training and development. Colleagues from around the world shared the same passion and drive for teaching while resolving complex pedagogical issues in a wide range of cultural and educational settings with varied levels of technology. The Editorial Team used an intercultural approach to academic communication and did their best to preserve the authors’ ‘accents’, their writing and personal styles. This book describes and analyses language teaching in higher education at the dawn of Generative Artificial Intelligence. A new civilisational and educational paradigm is ahead of us and rather than be driven by it, we need to drive it with our knowledge and experience. This volume is to be published by Cambridge University Press in early 2026. In this presentation I will focus on the role of the editors in shaping the theoretical profile of the volume and supporting the authors to produce their best work.
