The Impact of Pedagogical Innovation and Artificial Intelligence on Improving Collaborative Learning Practices: Innovative Contributions to the Scientific Community

Aziyadé Khadraoui, University Badji Mokhtar Annaba (Algeria)

Abstract

This communication proposes to explore how pedagogical innovation, particularly through the integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), transforms collaborative practices in learning. Our approach is structured around the following research question: How do pedagogical
innovations integrating AI contribute to improving collaborative practices in learning, and what are the innovative contributions to the scientific community?
Through an analysis of AI usage in different contexts within the French department, we will pay particular attention to analyzing tools that promote more effective collaboration, better co-construction of knowledge, and active involvement of learners.
We will draw on a literature review selected for this purpose, and actual case studies conducted with a representative sample of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in online or face-to-face courses, in order to identify the mechanisms by which digital tools and AI can represent either a barrier or a lever for collaboration during learning. Our research hypotheses are structured as follows:
• The integration of digital technology and AI in pedagogical systems promotes the development of collaborative skills, such as interactions, coordination, reflection, and team problem-solving.
• Digital technology and AI enable the personalization of collaborative activities according to learners' needs and profiles, thus improving their engagement and motivation within the framework of autonomous learning.
• Digital technology and AI offer new possibilities for evaluating collaborative skills, allowing for more personalized monitoring of learners' progress.
We hope that our present contribution will enrich the scientific community's reflection on this pivotal question that arises around collaborative systems and tools in university teaching-learning environments.

Keywords: Digital culture. Collaborative learning. Learning autonomy. French language teaching-learning.
