A Sample Course Procedure For Multimodal Interaction Through Drama in Language Classess

Dönercan Dönük, Mersin University (Turkey)

Abstract

Language teaching methodology has evolved on its axis due to the improvements on the other academic disciplines. Unlike the past, when language teaching heavily relied on the traditional language teaching methodology, today it has become possible to take the advantage of other fields and incorporate them into language teaching practices.

Being one these disciplines, Drama as an art form has emerged as a substantial aid to language classes, for it is an irreplaceable tool for the language educators. As another facility, Multimodal interaction thanks to the digital platforms has enabled teachers to utilize technology and Drama for pedagogical purposes.

This study aims to propose an implementation for the integration of technology into Drama in language classes. The study aims to contribute to the related research in that it elaborates on a classroom practice experience conducted by the researcher who applied the design on a group of prospective teachers.

The course procedure could be implemented in Initial Teacher Education Programs as a good model for multidisciplinary practice.
