Abstract

In recent years, many educational researchers have been investigating how best to evaluate students` learning outcomes. Anyway, how best to assess students` knowledge is still unsolved dilemma among educational researchers. With the rapid development of the computer technology, many of e-learning tools were developed. Consequently, multiple-choice items became a popular assessment tool at all stages of education. But, many researchers are sceptical if such kind of items is sufficient for the determination of student`s knowledge. In this paper, we present the study, in which 167 students of Physiotherapy were involved. Students have to completed multiple-choice test after carrying out the physics course, in which the field of Modern Physics was not involved. The multiple-choice test has involved items, which covered domains of physics that were part of the course and items from the field of Modern physics that was not part of the course. We compare both results and bring some answers about this issue. The results of this study indicate that multiple-choice items can be the successful tool for the determination of student`s knowledge. Additionally, we suggest some e-learning tools as suitable solutions for creating multiple-choice items.
