Information and Communication Technology Diffusion and Teaching Efficacy of the Teachers of Fatima National High School- General Santos City

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the relationship between the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) diffusion and teaching efficacy of the teachers of Fatima National High School-General Santos City. It seeks to determine level of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) diffusion in terms of (a) Self-motivation (b) Trainings (c) Technological characteristics and (d) Personnel and School support. Also it measures the level teaching efficacy of the teachers in Fatima National High School, General Santos City relative to (a) attitude, (b) self-concept; and (c) computer anxiety.

The respondents of this study were eighty-one (81) teachers from Fatima National High School-General Santos City. The researcher used Sloven’s formula, with a margin of error of 5% to determine the sample size of n=81 from the population of N=102. From the total of one hundred two (102) teachers of Fatima National High School-General Santos City, the researcher appropriated percent of teacher respondents in each year level listed.

In this study, the researcher used the descriptive method as research design and survey questionnaires to gather information needed. The gathered data were processed, presented, analyzed, and interpreted using the statistical tools such as frequency count, weighted mean, regression analysis, and Pearson-R correlation.

Based on the findings, the teachers moderately agree (wm=3.75) that there is an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) diffusion in a secondary school as integrated in teaching and work-related processes and the level of teaching efficacy is high (wm=4.22) as strongly agreed by the teachers. Furthermore, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) diffusion and teaching efficacy (r=0.33, p-value=0.327) has positive significant relationship.

This study recommends that the school heads should continue to implement Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its integration to teaching process. And there should be fully implemented programs to facilitate the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) diffusion
