The Future of Education

In this paper, the usefulness of practicing and studying ear training via interactive online websites for music learners were discussed. In Turkey, universities have education faculties and most of them have music education departments that accept students after a talent exam. The students take “Ear Training” lessons during second and third degrees (four terms). It’s well know that many students need more and more practice to improve hearing notes and understanding the chords, but lack of ability of preparing questions, he or she has trouble in self-practicing in free times or when at home. At this point, student may get help from online websites that include interactive training pages for ear education. In recent years, development in technology brings us a lot of advantages for all stages of education. Especially it can be seen that there’re so many examples about internet usage for teaching instruments, giving lessons via webcam, researching knowledge about music or music theories in encyclopedia websites and downloading score-notes from store websites.

In this study, most useful online ear training websites were examined, classified and explained according to features and contents. The authorities who are conducting ear training lessons in universities examined these websites and we discussed about their content, training style, effectiveness, potential advantages and disadvantages on learners. This study is in descriptive quality. The data has been obtained via interview and evaluated by processing content analysis.
