Assessing the Individual Working Habits of the Teacher Candidates of Music in the Educational Process of Flute

Abstract

The individual working habits of students, just as happened in many areas of education, is a subject that should be examined in the instrumental education as a branch of music education. Likewise, that the students having the appropriate working habits become more successful is the common opinion of the educators. In this direction, identifying the deficiencies of students has an importance in terms of correctly being to be able to guide them. With moving from here, the aim of the study is to assess the individual working habits of the teacher candidates of music in the process of flute education. The study is in descriptive quality and the relational scanning model were applied. The study group of research is consists of 20 students studying in the Main Scientific Branch of Music Education of the Department of Fine Arts Education, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Educational Faculty, Necmettin Erbakan University, in the educational and instructional year of 2013- 2014. The data of study were collected via an observational questionnaire formed by the researcher, receiving the views of specialist. The observational questionnaire includes the main technical and musical behaviors taking place in the elementary flute education in the direction of the aim of study. The values such as weighted average, percent, and frequency of the observed behaviors were determined by using SPSS program and for the measurement of the relationship between the behaviors, Spearman Brown Correlation Coefficient of Rank Order Differences were utilized and these findings were interpreted by presenting in tables. At the end of study, the individual working habits of the students were assessed and presented some solution suggestions in this direction.
