Experimental Study of Using Formative Techniques for Expanded Metal Mesh to Develop the Creative Thinking in Ornaments Formation for Students of Art Education

Neivein Abdul Ghafar Ahmed, Department of Art Education, Faculty of Specific Education, Alexandria University (Egypt)

Abstract

Research Theme
The art education students need to develop their creative power inside our educational institutions by providing the fertile environment for various students' creations. The creativity is necessary skill in the modern workplace."In the past creativity was often regarded as an innate individual disposition and education was thought to have little impact on development"[1].Guilford stated that "a creative act is an instance of learning and that a comprehensive learning theory must take into account both insight and creative activity"[2]
The current study focuses on new visions and creative solutions, developing the innovative abilities and preparing students to keep up with the labor market, using forming techniques of expanded metal mesh as a new technique in the metal ornament field.
The expanded metal mesh composed of interlaced wires in different geometrical shapes. The mesh is manufactured by different forming process. It has Strong, elegant appearance.Expanded metal mesh can be made from a range of materials, such as aluminum, stainless steel, etc.
Expanded metal meshes are widely used as steel reinforcement materials in building. The researcher used them in current study for new forming style of creative metal ornaments.
The study has been experimentally applied on group of art education students through workshop which produced many pieces of beautiful ornaments with new innovative designs, depended in their formation on combining the metal ornament forming techniques and expanded metal mesh forming techniques, yielded to successful workshop through developing the creative and innovative skills of students.

The problem
Is it possible to benefit from using formation techniques for the expanded metal mesh to create ornaments targeting the developing of the creative thinking skills for art education students?

Objectives
Creating interactive educational environment supports the interaction process between the students and teacher through interchange of educational experiences, opinions and discussion within practical experiments.

Methodology
Follows the experimental method in applying it on group of art education students from the Faculty of specific Education in Alexandria University, using expanded metal mesh forming techniques to enrich the metal work field.

Research boundaries
Depend on the applied, experimented practices of the formative and technical formulations for art education's students using the expanded mesh to form metal ornaments, and developing creative thinking skills.

Theoretical framework
Identifying the formation techniques by the expanded metal mesh as a new material used to form metal ornaments.

Applications and Results
Possibility of reaching set of metal ornaments performed by the art education students they depend on the forming techniques of expanded metal mesh to reach new formative solution.
