Teaching in a Multicultural Context of Biographies at Large.

Antonietta Di Vito, MIUR (Italy)

Abstract

My project intends to focus on the teaching of so-called literary subjects (Italian language and history) in an evening school for students aged 18 years and over, characterized by cross-cutting dimensions of multiculturalism : class, ethnic, linguistic, age and biography . They intersect , creating various and unpredictable configurations.

The ethnographic research has been characterized by the activity of teaching conducted by the same researcher in the areas in question.

Research and teaching took place in a secondary school degree in Rome, namely aTechnical Institute, engaged for years in terms of the so-called "return to training." The intervention will show in particular how some of the content of the teaching of Italian language and history are declined in a context characterized by a diverse range of specific pathways of life and individual learning, and how and how these different biographies emerge or are explicitly mentioned during the didactic interactions, which become fully intercultural practice of teaching and learning.
