Abstract

In nowadays communication and education infrastructure is well-developed, learning applications based on information and communication technologies are focused on active learning, as well timely transmission of information, rational provision of learning syllabus and adaptation it to the learner's individual needs and characteristics are becoming an effective way to raise the quality of learning (training).

The growth of technological possibilities and suggestions rise up the growth of demands of users. Therefore, increasing need for the development of e-learning, aspiration for the training flexibility and quality raises the need to assess and update the structure, features and functions of e-learning systems, which step by step transfers to adaptive and intelligent learning environments, and which become the common tool in e-education.

The ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions and to heterogeneous user expertise plays a vital role in e. learning and in creating and exploiting e-learning environments.

This article deals with the method that implements the intellectual component which is based on a modified latent semantic indexing algorithm by applying it in e-learning environment Moodle. It helps rationally to provide educational material for the learner according to his knowledge, as well, as additional value, the teacher, with regard to students’ test results, has possibility to update educational material that it would be more useful to his/her learners.

The article presents idea, implementation, test results and conclusions. The proposed solution enables e-learning environment to enrich with adaptive features, which become especially meaningful to self-study process.
