Abstract

Considering both Sustainable Development Goals and 21st century skills, mathematics has a very important place in individuals' lives. While in-school activities are important in teaching mathematics, out-of-school activities are also very vital. However, due to many hindering factors, out-of-school learning is put on the backburner in schools. Out-of-school learning environments are unique environments in terms of realizing concrete learning and supporting creative thinking. The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of primary school teachers regarding out-of-school learning environments that can be used in mathematics teaching. The research was carried out with qualitative research method. The participants of the research, designed with a case study approach, consist of primary school teachers working in Istanbul in the 2023-2024 academic year. The data were subjected to content analysis after being collected through face-to-face interviews using a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers. For reliable coding, separate categories were determined by the researchers. Then, the studies were combined, and inconsistencies were resolved. The reliability formula was used to calculate the reliability of the research, and in the calculations made, the reliability of the coding made by the researchers was calculated as 92%. The reporting process of the research is ongoing, and the results, discussions and recommendations will be included in the full text.
