Ivan Trenchev has been working as an Associate Professor of Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automatics of South-West University (SWU) "Neofit Rilski" since 2007.
He graduated in Mathematics from the South-West University "Neofit Rilski" in 1992-1997. Dr. Trenchev has obtained his PhD degree in Bioinformatics in 2006 from Department of Informatics at the South-West University "Neofit Rilski". His Dissertation’s theme’s: „Mathematical models of investigation of the optimality of contemporary genetic code against the simple mutations”.
He creates 5 different disciplines – “Introduction in bioinformatics”, “Biojava”, “Biopython”, “Introduction in R language”, “Scientific programing”.
Dr. Trenchev has been involved as project planner and coordinator in more than 5 national and international projects. At the moment he is a project manager of the scientific project " Bioinformatics Research: Protein Folding, Docking and Prediction of Biological Activity", funded by the National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science. Ivan Trenchev is a Member of Union of mathematicians; International organzasion – Bioinformatics.org.
Ivan Trenchev is a coach of the student team of programming. He with other coaches is the organizer of the student Olympiad of programming.
