Daniela Pennesi

Institution: University of Camerino

Country: Italy

Daniela Pennesi is a Sciences and Math teacher in a middle school of Marche region (Italy), which attends a PhD in Teaching Earth Sciences.

Daniela graduated in Natural Sciences from the University of Camerino in 2004. Since 2008, she has been working with students in the age range 11-14 years.

Daniela's PhD project is on the soil and the geomaterials.
The idea is to create teaching material "ready to use" to facilitate the teaching of those teachers not specialized in earth sciences. The topic, was chosen because it is very interdisciplinary and suitable to be considered as a thread to connected other subjects, not only among the natural sciences, but also including geography and art, history and technology, and environmental education.

During the doctorate years, Daniela is participating as a speaker at some Science Education national and international Congress. The last year she presented an educational game on the geomaterials recognition at the EGU-Gift in Wien. She showed her Soil project at Smart Education and Technology days, Naples 2015. Daniela tested her educational lab with IBSE approach, on several classes during the Earth Planet week 2015.

With the Unicam teachers/PhD in teaching Earth Sciences, Daniela has organized several earth sciences labs for Marche region teachers and students and the first Geosciences Summer School for teachers in Camerino, Italy, 2015.
