Alexandre Hagan

Alexandre Hagan is a doctoral candidate in education at the Faculty of Education at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Member of the Scientific and Technological Education Research Team (EREST), Alexandre does work focusing on theory-problem-solving (PS) in science programs (chemistry and physics) at the secondary school level. His work focuses on representational pluralism. Among others, the following interrelationships appear in his research program: PS and conceptual change, PS and inhibitory control, PS and dual reasoning processes (intuitive and logical processes).
Holder of a bachelor's degree in teaching chemistry and mathematics (Laval University), Alexandre has taught various science courses since 1999. Currently, Alexandre teaches chemistry and physics in Secondary V at La Voie School, which is part of the Commission Scolaire de Montreal(CSDM).
Also holding a bachelor's degree in nursing sciences (Laval University), Alexandre has practiced as a nursing professional since 2004, and as a clinical nurse in a host of care settings including emergency, medicine/surgery, psychiatric care, frontline care and in-prison care.
In addition, Alexandre holds a master's degree in community health (Université Laval), a master's degree in international health (Université de Sherbrooke) as well as a master's degree in health pedagogy (Université de Sherbrooke). Alexandre's various health training courses have led him to be a lecturer in nursing sciences, a nursing trainer in Benin, Brazil, Uganda and Peru as well as a research assistant in epidemiology in Vietnam. Finally, Alexandre is the author of a chapter on wound care in areas of limited resources published in the reference book Best Practices in Wound Care (2023).
Recognized as a doctoral student, Alexandre was the recipient of two prizes for the popularization of science (2023, 2024) at UQAM and a lecturer for the International Baccalaureate program (subject: strategic teaching in science).
