Edward Thake

Edward Thake is a secondary school chemistry educator at St Theresa and San Ġorg Preca College in Malta. In 2019, he graduated with a B.Sc.(Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Malta after which he pursued a Masters in Teaching and Learning in Science Education. Edward undertook a chemistry traineeship at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and was awarded a certificate of merit in chemistry at the Malta Dean of Science Awards.

Edward has contributed to various local and internal projects. He was involved in the environmental monitoring of the Notarial Archives building in Malta as well as in conservation efforts of photographic film collections at the National Archives in Malta. Edward has been a national representative during several international events, including the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) and the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS). In recent years, he has been active in educational programmes such as the ENSITE Utrecht Sumer School in the Netherlands and the ProSTEM-ICSE Academy Project Workshop at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic.

Edward's areas of interest are chemistry education and student course selection.
