The Importance of Digital Literacy for Using VR Technologies in Education

Abstract

The modern educational environment dictates new conditions for the presentation of theoretical and practical knowledge in the education of students in higher education institutions. High-quality education is possible only in the context of a new paradigm focused on the use of information and communication technologies. It also presupposes the possession of information educational technologies to achieve pedagogical goals. Such a teacher, using e-learning technologies, must have special software, work skills in an electronic environment, using modern equipment when teaching students. Digitalization of the educational environment involves the introduction of digital technologies in all areas of the educational organization, and also requires appropriate professional training of teachers. The teacher has an important role to play in adapting digital innovations to improve the quality of learning. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the use of virtual reality (VR) technologies in teaching foreign languages. The integration of VR into the educational process has significant potential to improve the effectiveness of learning and the development of language skills. VR technologies allow to create an immersive environment that promotes deeper immersion in the language and culture being studied. This is especially important for the development of communication skills and intercultural competence. The use of VR in language education provides an opportunity to simulate a variety of communication situations. Many teachers require additional training to make effective use of modern educational technologies, which can be difficult given limited time and resources. Despite these challenges, the integration of digital and multimedia technologies into a language teaching opens up opportunities to increase the effectiveness of the educational process.
