Abstract
Higher education in Sindh, Pakistan, faces challenges that hinder students' academic and professional success, including financial instability, skill gaps, and limited career readiness. This study explores the integration of survival skills into college curricula through the research project “Building a Strong Foundation: Developing Survival Skills in College Education in Sindh Province, Pakistan.” The project aims to equip students with communication, problem-solving, and time management skills, alongside entrepreneurial competencies to enhance employability.
Using a mixed-method research approach, data is collected through surveys from students, faculty, and industry experts across Sindh’s key regions, including Larkana, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas. The project promotes internships, part-time employment, and case-study-based learning to bridge the gap between education and job market demands. Findings will contribute to policy recommendations for sustainable skill-based education models that foster economic stability and workforce adaptability.
