Abstract
Teacher training and education has been one of the most frequently used topics in recent years. Teacher educators are obliged to provide teachers with professional knowledge and skills that are based on sound foundations and to provide continuous professional development. Teacher educators are educational researchers who are responsible for the teaching of field knowledge, instructional information and general courses; managers who are responsible for the implementation of the schools in the schools affiliated with the institutions that provide the teaching formation program; trained and experienced teachers who organize the practices in the other schools; and coordinators who supervise the ongoing teacher candidates and those who assist in the on-the-job training qualification process. Therefore, we can say that teacher educators are a very heterogeneous group. Recently, various researches have been done to determine the standards of teacher education, reports are being published, grants allocated for projects, trainings are organized, but a common set of standards for teacher educators have not still been set so far. In this context, this study aims to give an insight into differences of standards for teacher educators between the United States and the Netherlands and to make contribution to further studies regarding setting common standards for teacher educators. In this study, research was designed in the type of survey, and out of the qualitative research methods, document analysis was used.
