Research as an Inspiration for Inclusive Intervention in Children with Emotional and Behavioural Disorders

Abstract
The presentation deals mainly with the topics linked to children with behavioural difficulties or emotional and behavioural disorders and to their educational needs. The presentation highlights connection between children’s educational needs and their life experiences, which are reflected in the emotional, social and cognitive areas.
The presentation is focused on selected research findings of members of Department of Special and Inclusive Education of the Faculty of Education Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic), who deal with topics related to process of education and intervention in children with emotional and behavioural disorders. Generally, the researches were focused on exploring of the processes of inclusion/exclusion or marginalization of children with emotional and behavioural disorders and to special educational needs of the children. Many of the research findings illustrate trends in educational processes within the area of Czech residential educational facilities and “common” schools. The research findings illustrate cognitive, emotional and social domains of children’s lives and are focused on barriers and sources of the processes of learning and personal development of the children. The researches were based on quantitative and on qualitative methodology.
