Abstract
The world responds to competitive environment by concentrating on soft power which includes knowledge, arts, tourism, value and cultural consumption instead of competing on economics, politics, military and science and technology, thereby enabling economic value and force by culture and leading to alternative paradigm in community development which focuses on humanism rather than materialism alone. Thailand chooses creative economy by presenting the value from diversity of cultures, traditions and local wisdoms which is unique and different from one location to another to benefit handicraft businesses. Nevertheless, Thailand faces with the challenges on preserving traditional cultures and knowledge amid technological advancement and information age and intensified business competition. This qualitative research focused on an in-depth interview with the sample group comprised of 22 local wisdom product manufacturers. Analytic induction was applied to study about business conditions, transfer process of local wisdom knowledge and unique characteristics of the entrepreneurs which are crucial mechanisms for driving their business while inheriting that local wisdom. Findings from this study could be used to build a participation process model for all stakeholders to sustain existence of Thai wisdom.
