International Education: Educating the Global Citizen

Rina Sondhi, British School of Orvieto (Italy)

Abstract

As an International Educator with experience working in Britain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, China, New York, San Francisco, Russia, Sri Lanka and Italy; it came to my attention, how interconnected we all are through the Education process and the importance of Global Citizenship. Through this paper i would like to draw upon a variety of International Teaching and Learning contexts and the impact we all have on Educating Global Citizens in a New Global atmosphere and the importance of culture, language and unity. The impact of Global citizenship helps young people to:

  • Build their own understanding of world events.
  • Think about their values and what's important to them.
  • Take learning into the real world.
  • Challenge ignorance and intolerance.
  • Get involved in their local, national and global communities.
  • Develop an argument and voice their opinions.
  • See that they have power to act and influence the world around them.

Through an International Education, we as Educators need to be trained to support the developments and introduce new methods of inspiration through our teaching. All teachers need to be prepared for Our Global Citizens.  This Presentation will introduce a range of experienced based projects, ideas and events for All.

Keywords: Global Citizens, International Education.
