Formation of Professional Competence of Listeners in the Field of Teaching Schoolchildren the Basics of Economic Literacy

Abstract
The current state of school economic education in the Republic of Belarus does not meet the needs of society. One of the reasons for the discrepancy is insufficient of professional competence of teachers who teach the basics of economic literacy. A comparison of approaches to teaching economics in schools of the Republic of Belarus and European countries is made. The foundations of economics are currently being studied in combined social subjects. The issue of the formation of teachers' professional competence in the field of teaching the fundamentals of economics at school as part of their development of retraining and advanced training programs is considered. Methods of increasing the competence of teachers on the basics of economics are described. Improving the teachers’ professional competence teaching the basics of economic literacy of schoolchildren will contribute to improving the quality of education.
