Abstract

In this presentation, we will try to highlight through the Life of Philotheos of Opsikion (BHG 1535) , which was written by Eustathius of Thessaloniki, a model of a teacher who could be an example for modern educators. It is a text in which a Saint, who preferred not to become a monk and to remain in the world, is praised, living a virtuous life. That is why we chose to study and present this work. Therefore, after briefly analyzing the content of Life, we will make an effort to highlight the elements that can inspire modern teachers, which are clearly derived from education, his family situation and his general life. Efforts will also be made to link this narrative to narratives, which appear in the work Apophthegmata Pateron (Father's Quotes)  in order to further expand the idea of highlighting a contemporary teacher. Then an attempt will be made to combine the elements of Life with the results of modern Science of education, while an example will be given of the application of what will be mentioned above, in a Greek school class of Secondary Education . Finally, some conclusions will be drawn, which will be intended to make clear what has been recorded above.
