The Future of Education

HELP2 – Healthcare Language Learning Programme (2018-2021) https://help2project.eu/ – is a follow-up strategic partnership project based on HELP – Healthcare English Language Programme (2014-2017) http://help-theproject.eu/ implemented under Erasmus+. It is a free online and offline language learning programme for effective communication in English and German for healthcare.
OUTCOMES. The HELP2 project will create: 14 new modules in different healthcare areas including dental care, psychiatry, midwifery, emergency medicine, palliative care, paediatrics, physiotherapy, care of the elderly, nutrition and dietetics, etc. and 7 new modules in German for the healthcare setting including: anamnesis, the German healthcare system, pharmacy, intercultural communication, etc. The project outcomes will increase capacity and professionalism to work at EU/international level, facilitate mobility on the labour market, give access to medical content from publications, better preparation for scientific cooperation and exchange.
FOR WHOM. Help2 is for students in healthcare programmes, nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, language teachers, translators and interpreters, medical tourism workers, as well as local governments while trying to cope with challenges of internalisation in healthcare.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING. All the learning materials are free, flexible, and modular, coming in three basic forms: an online Moodle platform (with downloadable content), an app for Android mobile devices, and a printed book also available as a PDF. Similar didactical design is used for all the modules of the learning programme, but the authors from the eight partners’ countries (CZ, DE, PL, LT, SK, BG, RO, PT) bring in a real treasure, a European perspective of various didactical approaches. Modules provide cartoon videos, key words, a variety of exercises using media potentials, language corners and dialogues recorded by natives and non-natives as a realistic approach. Authors also sought to keep a good balance between professional focus and development of communication skills. The content and media address also the emotional side to support learning.
HELP2 is the innovative answer, challenging the HE educational staff to further develop teaching and learning approaches and step into new ways with flexible, ICT- and mobile-based offers. It answers the healthcare students’ and professionals´ learning needs while contributing to their employability and competitiveness in the view of new European employment possibilities for healthcare professionals.
