Teaching and learning system at the Federal University of Technology, Minna

Abstract

Major challenge of teaching and learning faced by most public higher institutions in Nigeria is student population that has outstretched the existing facilities. There is also challenge of incorporating smart teaching and learning facilities dues to rigid or slow strategic thinking. This paper is part of an on-going research on Effective pedagogy for Public Universities in Nigeria. The Paper evaluates the teaching and learning system at the Federal University of Technology, Minna with a view to identify the challenges in teaching and learning. Secondly, it examines the Institution’s strategies/policies towards addressing the identified challenges. A phenomenological approach is the methodological path to the investigation. Research activities are desktop and purposeful interactions with strategic managers of the institution. The likely future for an effective teaching and learning is tending towards digital transformation to enable smart system that would meet global standard.
