Siw Olsen Fjørtoft, SINTEF Digital (Norway)
Abstract
This study investigates the practical applications of integrating ChatGPT in student assignments, focusing on user cases and approaches by teachers in upper secondary schools. The aim is to provide valuable user-centric perspectives to guide the integration of ChatGPT in student assignments in a way that aligns with educational objectives and pedagogical principles. Privacy-related issues when using ChatGPT are also addressed, and teachers seem reflective about the pros and cons of introducing such technologies in school. Raising awareness of opportunities and challenges with AI and letting students explore new technologies in a controlled environment might foster critical thinking, student collaboration, and improved problem-solving skills.
