Abstract

Lack of knowledge and skills in mental health can result in individuals experiencing psychological distress and not accessing appropriate sources of help. Moreover, psychological difficulties have the potential to have a detrimental impact on the family system and family relationship patterns. Having a high level of mental health literacy is critical for both family and community health. As a result, it is imperative to develop programs to increase parents' mental health literacy. It is necessary to determine the dimensions of parents' mental health literacy levels in order to provide a basis for the studies to be planned. This study was conducted to determine the dimensions of parents' mental health literacy levels. Data: DergiPark, Yöktez, Scopus and ProQuest databases using keywords related to mental health, mental health literacy and mental health literacy of parents. The results showed that parents' mental health literacy levels were related to demographic characteristics, mental health knowledge, stigmatizing attitudes, parental self-efficacy and coping skills. It was concluded that these dimensions should be taken into consideration in the programs to be developed.

Keywords

Mental health literacy, parent.
