Abstract
Undoubtedly, in recent years, foreign languages have become an important passport to join the labor market, because they offer a greater range of communication both in the work environment and in handling existing and potential clients. In fact, nowadays, one language is not enough, two foreign languages are necessary. In addition, young people and especially tourism workers are proceeding to learn a third foreign language, in order to expand the possibilities of professional rehabilitation and upgrading of the already existing one. Language determines an important part of success in the tourism and hotel industry and has continuously influenced the hospitality industry. Not only has it affected the method of marketing strategies or the methods of human resource management, it has also influenced the education system equally. In this paper, emphasis is placed on the contribution of foreign languages to the tourism and hotel industry and the teaching of foreign languages in tourism education and training in Greece.
