Abstract
Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) remains a persistent social concern in many Philippine communities despite existing legal frameworks and local interventions. This study, titled Voices Against Violence: Community-Based Interventions for VAWC Prevention, aims to examine the demographic profile, knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of Anti-VAWC community advocates and to assess the interventions and initiatives currently implemented at the community level in Ragay, Camarines Sur. Specifically, it seeks to (1) describe the advocates’ demographic characteristics, (2) evaluate their KAP regarding VAWC, (3) identify existing Anti-VAWC interventions and initiatives, (4) determine the relationship between demographic profile, KAP, and the nature of interventions, and (5) propose strengthened, gender-responsive Anti-VAWC programs and campaigns. The study employs a descriptive-correlational research design using a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data will be collected through structured survey questionnaires administered to purposively selected Anti-VAWC advocates, including Barangay VAWC Desk Officers, PNP Women and Children Protection Desk personnel, MSWDO staff, educators, health workers, barangay officials, youth leaders, and civil society representatives. Qualitative data will be generated through focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and document review to capture the scope, effectiveness, and challenges of existing interventions. Quantitative data will be analyzed using descriptive and correlational statistics, while qualitative data will undergo thematic analysis. Anchored on the Social Ecological Model and Social Learning Theory, the study is expected to generate evidence on how individual and institutional factors influence Anti-VAWC advocacy and practice. Findings will serve as the basis for proposing enhanced, inclusive, and sustainable community-based Anti-VAWC interventions that can strengthen referral mechanisms, improve advocacy strategies, and support gender-responsive local development initiatives within education institutions and community.
