Angela Gamba Buitrago is currently the coordinator of the Teachers’ Development Plan in English at Universidad de la Sabana, a private university near Bogotá, in Chía, Colombia.

Angela graduated in Modern Languages from Andes University of Bogota in 1996. Since then, she has been working for different universities in Bogota, in charge of different tasks and projects.

From 1996 to 2004, she worked as an English teacher in several higher education institutions.She taught English for specific purposes and English as a foreign language. In 1997 and 1999 she was the head of the English Department at Escuela Colombiana de Rehabilitación and Fontan School, respectively. From 2004, she became a full-time teacher at Universidad de la Sabana, where she has held different positions. From 2007-2012, she coordinated six of the seven English levels that belong to the syllabi of the different schools at the University. In 2013, she was the head of the Evaluation Committee, which was aimed at designing, revising, and editing assessment tests guaranteeing their quality and objectiveness. In 2015, she coordinated Plan Umbrella, a blended program in which students take their English levels virtually with a face-to-face session per week. She designed the material to be used in the platform and coordinated everything related to its application and development. From 2016, Angela has been in charge of coordinating the Teachers’ Development Plan in English, which is addressed to all the teachers at the university who must take English courses for specific purposes in order to be updated and continuously improving their English level.

Angela has also worked on some teacher training projects, which have been held In different regions in Colombia. These projects were aimed at providing teachers from rural areas with new resources and methodologies that could be useful to them to improve their teaching performance.

Angela published the article “Collaborative and Self-directed Learning Strategies to Promote Fluent EFL Speakers” in the English Language Teaching Magazine Vol. 10, No. 5; 2017
