Wie teaches in both teacher- and preschool-teacher education. In both teaching and research she is interested in esthetical and creative teaching methods, early learning, literacy, creative storytelling and creative writing, as well as using the outdoor-classroom.
She has been doing research as an accompanying researcher in different projects in school, preschool and theatre. In accompanying research, the goal is to investigate and describe a process from the beginning to end. More recently she was doing accompanying research in the project I Will Be Everything… that ran over a three year period between 2017 and 2020, and was funded by the Creative Europe Program. Partners were theatre institutions from seven European countries, her partner institution was Nordland Teater in Mo I Rana.
She also has experience from international projects working with intensive courses for students. Now she is coordinator for the Nordplus network Nordic-Baltic childhood and culture in a global perspective; a cooperation between preschool teacher programs from Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
Wie’s latest research is emphasizing children’s early text cultures and children's path to literacy.
