Irena Skendo was born on 29th December 1984 in Vlore, Albania and she is a lecturer at the University “Ismail Qemali” in Vlore. She has been teaching English for more than ten years including subjects such as Anglophone culture, Intercultural Communication and English for Specific Purposes. Over her academic life she has participated in numerous international conferences where she has explored various themes in the papers presented. Irena holds a PhD degree which was completed in the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies, at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy in the field of linguacultural studies. Concretly, tourism discourse has been the focus of her research with the completion of her dissertation entitled “ Corpus-Assisted Analysis of the Language of Tourism in Albanian English”. Most of her research papers have treated tourism in Albania, types of tourism or the pragmatical promotion of Albania internationally. She has been given multiple presentations at conferences in the past four years and she has been working as a conference organizing committee member.
Finally, possessing the title of the legal translator awarded by the Ministry of Justice in Albania, has given her the opportunity to deal with legal teaching and legal translations.
