Christian Van Kerckhove is lecturer, researcher and head of the Social Work Degree Program at the Faculty of Education, Health and Social Work of the University College Ghent. He is the director of the Centre of Expertise: Mix’It, Forum for study, documentation and training concerning living/together’. Mix’it is a multidisciplinary platform, bringing together research and training on these issues from various disciplinary perspectives, especially in social work and teacher training.
Collaborations with the Transbaso partners include in several research and valorization projects with the Centre for Diversity and Education: A diversity policy and vision text for the Department of Social Work was collaboratively developed in 2007. Currently, there is an involvement in the project ITDIV: Dealing with diversity in the teacher training: from the periphery to the core of the curriculum, which is developing an interactive toolkit for blended learning for learning how to deal with diversity in education.
He teaches Philosophy, Social Philosophy and Ethics.
His latest publication (together with De Kock, C & Vens, E;) in English is ‘Social Work in an international perspective. History, views, diversity and human rights. (Garant, 2014) and in Dutch ‘Een goddelijk humanism. Sartres minachting voor de menselijke werkelijkheid. (Garant, 2014)
