Sylvie Fontaine holds a Ph.D. in Education – Measurement and Evaluation – from the Université of Montréal (Canada). She is currently professor at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, (Canada) since 2004. Her previous experiences include positions at the University of Otago (New Zealand), Ottawa University (Ontario, Canada), and École Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada).
Her research interests include students’ assessment, student perseverance and program evaluation. She has been involved in designing, validating and implementing data collection instruments for numerous evaluation studies. She has demonstrated experience in collaborating with international and national research projects. In the last four years, she worked more specifically within professional learning communities on the theme of students’ assessment. Her most recent work, in collaboration with professionals from the community, aimed at developing programs to reduce student dropping out of school.
