Alessandro (Alex) Rosborough is an assistant professor in the Department of Teacher Education in the McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University. Alex received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in TESOL from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His work focuses on English as a second language, bilingualism, and dual language immersion, with particular concern to the role of gesture in second language teaching and learning. His most recent publications emphasize the use of gesture in elementary classrooms, including the concepts of embodied learning and sociocultural pedagogy. His research interests include application of Vygotskian Cultural-Historical Theory and he is the book review editor for the Vygotsky-based journal, Language and Sociocultural Theory.
