Reinhard Kunz is of Swiss origin and grew up in the United States. He holds a BA from the Mannes College of Music in New York City. He worked as a freelance cellist in the New York metropolitan area from 1981 to 1988. In 1991 he completed his Master’s degree at Teachers College of Columbia University in New York. In 1991 he moved with his family to Switzerland, where he taught at the International School of Zug before accepting a position as an English teacher at a hotel management school in Lucerne. In 2001 he joined the English department of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, where he has been teaching part-time ever since. He is also a certified German to English translator. He worked part-time at Language Services of Credit Suisse from 2000 to 2007, the year in which he joined AXA Winterthur. In 2009 he left AXA Winterthur and founded WordShop GmbH, a highly successful small translation office specializing in insurance and financial translations.
