A main assumption is that what adults need or want to learn, which opportunities that are available, and the way they learn are determined by their sociocultural context. Adults find themselves in a sociocultural context influenced by the three main forces demography, technology and globalization. Continuous changes influence learning needs throughout the life span in general and in particular the learning needs in higher education and work.
