In her Doctoral Thesis she studied how business students used web-based learning environments to support information sourcing and knowledge construction in the context of problem-based learning.
Maija Kärnä worked as a Post-Doc Researcher in 2012-2013 in a project coordinated by Tampere University and financed by the Academy of Finland. Her research focused on the Professional Identity-Building of business students. Her other research interest is eLearning.
