The Future of Education

Dr. Nadia Rhodes is a senior lecturer at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. She studied to be a financial specialist and is a member in two professional bodies. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS) as well as a global member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (GCIMA). After 11 years in industry as a professional accountant she became an academic and obtained her PhD in Accounting Education in 2012. She identified the gap between accounting education and the work place of financial specialists and researched a method of better aligning accounting education to accounting practice. Her expertise has been sought by other universities where she has assisted with ICT integration into their accounting curriculum. Her research interests are focused on accounting education, ICT and more recently how the advances in 4IR and the financial specialist world of work can be integrated into accounting education.
