Jamil Extremera is a PhD student at the University of Salamanca (Spain) and his research work is focused on the development and use of Virtual Reality platforms in the field of university training.
He obtained the bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) in 2007, the degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of Ávila (Spain) in 2017 and Master in Mathematical and Computer Engineering from the International University of La Rioja (Spain) in 2018.
Jamil has developed his main professional activity in the engineering and construction sector of industrial plants, especially Oil & Gas. Since 2017, he has participated in research projects linked to educational platforms that use Virtual Reality as a tool to support the teaching of different subjects, mainly related to Materials Science and Engineering.
Some of the publications in which he has participated are Virtual and augmented reality environments to learn the fundamentals of crystallography (2020), The technological obsolescence of virtual reality learning environments (2020), and Meaningful learning through virtual reality learning environments: A case study in Materials Engineering (2019).
