Klodjana Skendaj is the Head of the English Unit at the New York University of Tirana, Albania.
Klodjana graduated in English Language from the University of Tirana in 2008. Since then, for the last 16 years, she has been working in Higher Education Institutions. From 2008 to 2012, she worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department. Later, from 2012 to 2019, at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Natural Sciences, she worked as an Assistant Lecturer, and from 2019 at the New York University of Tirana, Department of Psychology/English Unit as an Assistant Lecturer. Since May 2023, she has started her PhD. studies at the University of Tirana.
Klodjana is an expert in teaching Academic Writing, English as a Second Language, and International Exams. For 16 years, she has taught English for specific purposes in different universities, and for the last 6 years, she has taught Academic Writing to Undergraduate Students, introducing critical thinking, the writing process, academic integrity, and research methodology. Since 2021, she has been Head of the English Unit, building the curricula and managing all the mechanisms for updating the teaching programs. Klodjana is also a member of the Commission for the Assurance of the Quality Standards from May 2023. She has co-authored the English for Science Book 1, (2014), Faculty of Natural Science/University of Tirana ISBN 978-9928-04-273-6. She also edited English for Students of Natural Science Book 1, Faculty of Natural Science/University of Tirana, ISBN 978-9928-04-324-5 (2014) and English for Students of Natural Science Book 2, Faculty of Natural Science/University of Tirana, ISBN 978-9928-04-226-2 (2014). From 2019 to 2021, she was the Head Copy Editor of the students’ Newspaper.
Klodjana Skendaj is a dedicated PhD Candidate with a strong academic background in English language teaching and psychology. Currently affiliated with the New York University of Tirana as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, she also holds administrative roles as the Head of the Writing Center and the English Unit at UNYT. With extensive experience in academic and professional environments, Klodjana has been an active contributor to various research outputs, including refereed journal articles, books, and book chapters. Her research interests revolve around academic writing, research methodology, critical thinking, and teaching English as a foreign language. Klodjana's commitment to academic excellence is evident through her involvement in the Assurance of Quality Standards Commission and her editorial work for academic publications.
