Dr. Hogan is an Assistant Professor at Kean University in the College of Education, Department of Special Education & Literacy. Prior to this, Dr. Hogan served as a learning disabilities teacher/consultant (LDT/C)/educational diagnostician in New Jersey public school districts prior to entering higher education. As a member of the Child Study Team, he served as a consultant, educational diagnostician, and case manager to improve the educational lives of children with disabilities from grades Pre-K through 12+. Dr. Hogan also taught at both the middle school and upper elementary settings. A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Hogan received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and Humanities from Holy Family University, his Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Drexel University, his Master of Education in School Leadership from Wilmington University, and his Post-Master’s Certificate in Learning Disabilities from Rowan University. He completed his doctoral studies with St. Thomas University. Dr. Hogan has published in peer-reviewed journals, including The Educational Forum, The Journal of LGBT Youth, Excelsior: Leadership in Teaching and Learning, and The Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals. His research interests are focused on the intersectional experiences of students with disabilities who identify as LGBTQ+, the utilization of RtI frameworks for special education services, the academic and social/emotional impact of inclusive education, and teacher preparedness for inclusive education, Dr. Hogan holds certifications as an Elementary Teacher, Middle School English Teacher, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, and Principal. He maintains affiliation with several professional organizations.
