Janine Bittner graduated in Geography and Biology in 2004 (Major) and in Pedagogy in 2005 (Minor) for Teacher Education at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Since then she has worked as Research Associate, Senior Lecturer and as Project Coordinator in Geography and Teacher Education at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU), the Philipps-University of Marburg, the Georg-August-University of Göttingen and the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB), among others.
Janine has taught 125 courses for bachelor and master students in 16 different study programmes between 2004 - 2021 and co-organized 4 summer/winter schools. Her field of expertise in teaching includes all subdisciplines of human geography, project management, research methods, applied statistics, scientific work. She has trained and supervised more than 2500 students. She was responsible for curricula development, development of instructional designs, teaching material, e-learning courses. She also worked in internationalization of teacher education, project management, establishment of specific offers for the preparation of students in the initial phase of their studies, counseling of students, scientific consultant in teacher education, student and study programme marketing measures development, cooperation with schools.
Her research focuses at the moment on different aspects of housing research, diversity and leadership education, impact of SL/community-based research. She uses qualitative, multi-method and mixed-method approaches. Since 2022 Janine has been working full-time on her phd thesis in geography.
