ICT Based Language Teaching and Learning Approaches

Abstract

“The entire education system is designed to facilitate ‘LIFELONG’     and ‘LIFE WIDER’ learning and the creation of formal, non-formal and informal learning opportunities for people of all ages…The concept of lifelong learning requires a paradigm shift away from the ideas of teaching and training towards those of learning from knowledge-conveying instruction to learning for personal development and from the acquisition of special skills to broader discovery and the releasing and harnessing of creative potential. This shift is need at all levels of education and types of provision, whether formal or informal….” (source: UNESCO Education strategy 2014-2021).

Education, especially higher education is undergoing a paradigm shift by integrating technology. The idea of ICT based teaching-learning over the past decades is assumed to have revolutionized and revitalized the higher education sector tremendously. Indian educational policies have given more focus on new concept of teaching-learning practices using ICT & Digitalization. From “telecentres’ to ‘smart schools’ made children push towards the use of ICT in term of Internet, Computer, Mobile etc. The role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) made this world to a small HUB from where the learning is exploring the world views in educational MOBILITIES and its PRACTICES. It is said, “Practices make a man perfect” and teaching by a practical use of ICT will influence more on learning process of students. Teaching is continuous process and learning is the method by which teaching enhances in practices. In modern services, society’s education demands more knowledge of teacher regarding ICT’s and skills to use of ICT in teaching-learning process and best example of ICT is E-learning. The most perfect use of ICT is solving multitude of challenges quickly as well as at low rate. ICT have filled the generation and gender gaps and removed all barriers of technology and given a knowledge space for long life information. In this paper, a literature review regarding the use of ICT in education and dissertation findings will enrich the greatness of our Educational Policies. Teacher’s and Technology’s are the BACKBONE of any County.
