Abstract
The scope provided by the Internet for pedagogical purposes is increasing day by day. The interface of technology with English Language Teaching has affected Pedagogy positively. This tendency of using information and communication technologies (ICTs) is gaining ground with the development of Internet infrastructure and technologies. And by their increasing availability and use, students are expecting new ways and materials for enhancing their skills. Effective communication skill is an important life-skill required not only in one’s academic and professional career but also in one’s personal career. Contrary to popular belief, the job of a technical professional is also highly dependent upon communication skills. These professionals must be able to report their ideas and designs clearly and succinctly to their subordinates, coworkers, supervisors, and clients. However, the effective integration of this technology into classroom practices poses a challenge to facilitators and students. This paper discusses the scope and constraints (if any) of using information and communication technologies (ICTs) in fostering Internet-based projects for learning English as a second Language (ESL) in the language classrooms of technological institutes in India.
