Abstract
The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, particularly the development of language models like ChatGPT, have sparked significant interest in the potential of these technologies to enhance language acquisition. Since ages, the academic community have been in search of different ways to teach English for second language learners. Recent advancements in large language models like ChatGPT have opened up
new possibilities for language instruction and learning. ChatGPT's capabilities to generate human-like responses and engage in conversation have sparked interest in its potential as a language learning tool. This
paper aims to explore the potential of ChatGPT in language acquisition, examining how its features align with Krashen's hypotheses and impact language learning outcomes. Krashen's work has been instrumental
in shaping our understanding of how individuals acquire and learn new languages, and exploring the potential of ChatGPT within this theoretical context can provide valuable insights into the future of language
education (Chan & Zhou, 2023). This paper further tends to analyse how ChatGPT's comprehensible input and interactive features align with Krashen's hypotheses, and evaluate its effectiveness in language acquisition. This study is based on my ongoing research.
