Supporting Students with Dyspraxia

Abstract
It is important to provide an inclusive environment within the classroom and support individual needs. Many of our students have learning difficulties. I will talk about Dyspraxia, which remains a relatively unknown learning difficulty, often secondary to dyslexia. In this interactive and engaging session, you will learn what dyspraxia is, including what signs someone with dyspraxia might have. Then, importantly, you will discover different ways you can support your students, as well as any family or friends that may have dyspraxia. This is all based on practical, first-hand experience. Indeed, there will be a personal touch to the session as I detail my own life and battles living with dyspraxia, both growing up and as an adult. As an experienced ESOL teacher, both in the UK and abroad, including in Italy and someone who has undertaken language lessons, I am extremely familiar with the difficulties someone with dyspraxia might face in the language classroom. I believe education is all about learning and this is an ideal platform to share our knowledge. Throughout the session, I invite input from the audience.
