Dr. David Kyeu earned his PhD in African Languages and Literature from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the United states. He earned his M.A. in Swahili Studies from Egerton University in Kenya. Prior to joining the University of California-Berkeley, David Kyeu taught Swahili at the University of Florida, Brown University and the University of Wisconsin. He is a past recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, Swedish International Development Agency Award and the University of Wisconsin Academic Initiative Award. Dr. David Kyeu has authored a number of texts one of them titled Swahili Noun Classes: Your Friendly Workbook and Guide. He has also published a number of articles in Applied Linguistics and in second Language Acquisition. He is a board member of the Global Association of Promoting Swahili (GAPS / CHAUKIDU) .
